In the qualifying match for the World Cup Football 2014, in the history of Nepalese football Nepal, for the first time entered the second round defeating East Timor in both the matches. In the matches between Nepal and East Timor, Nepal won East Timor
by 2-1 goal score in the first and again Nepal kept its head held high by defeating Timor by 0-5 goal score in the second. Both the match was played in Dasarath Stadium in kathmandu and the rain affected the matches pretty much. The ground was watery but also players kept their concentration on the match.

In the first match, Nepalese attacking midfielder Bharat Khawas had to left the ground as he faced a red card. But also Nepal got control over the Timor team leading to win. Nepal is ahead of Timor in the world ranking.

While in the second match, Nepalese players showed their outstanding performance scoring 5 goals against Timor and conformed their safe passage to the second round. The stadium was echoed with voices of Nepalese covered with umbrella in the rain speaking "Nepal Nepal Nepal". Equalizer was sufficient for Nepal to make through the next round, but a 5 goal win is much better. Nepalese football coach Graham Roberts has contributed much to get Nepal in this form.

In the second round, Nepal is facing Jordan which is much ahead of Nepal in the world ranking. Both the matches are to be held in Jordan. Nepal must win these games to make through the other round eventually to be selected in the World Cup Football 2014.
